Croatia Preview: vs France

After breaking English hearts after a 2-1 victory in the semi-finals, Croatia face Euro 2016 finalists France in what is surely a real David Versus Goliath affair.

It has been a real party atmosphere in Croatia, with members of the Croatian Parliament meeting in Croatia Shirts ahead of the World Cup Final.

The Croats have been the best thing to come out of this world cup since Harry Maguire, with near tireless performances, youth and intelligence the Croatians will pose France a serious threat. Especially considering the form of main man Luka Modric, who is tipped to win Player of the Tournament after scoring 2 not to mention the resolute defence of Dejan Lovren and Vida.

But very much like the David V Goliath story, it would take some doing to beat mighty France, who have trailed for just 9 minutes and 12 seconds in this tournament. Meanwhile, Croatia have been behind in all three of their matches before eventually winning in extra-time, twice on Penalties.

Predicted Line-up:

Subasic

Vrsaljko, Vida, Lovren, Strinic

Modric, Brozovic, Rakitic,

Rebic, Mandzukic, Perisic

One to watch: Kylian Mbappe

Reaching an incredible 23 mph after a 71-yard run against Argentina the youngster has the weight of a whole nation on his shoulders. Make no mistake Mbappe is one of the every few players that can get into any starting 11 in World Football, yet the same could be said of Luka Modric.

One aspect about Mbappe that the Croatian back-line they will have to watch out for is his unpredictability, as a defender you just don’t know what he will do. Which marks him out as very dangerous, not to mention the Frenchman has netted 3 goals so far in the Competition. At only q9 years old!

Prediction: 2-1 win: Croatia

It is hard to ever discredit France, but after the showing against England it becomes even more so to discredit Croatia. If they put in even half of the energy they did against England, then France will have serious issues.
